Ezra 4:21-22 King James Version (KJV)
21 Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
22 Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
Ezra 4:21-22 The Voice (VOICE)
21 Now you must issue a decree of your own. Order the Jews to stop building in Jerusalem until I tell them otherwise. 22 Do not be indifferent in your handling of this matter. This threat cannot be allowed to harm the empire.

21 The king put a stop to building the temple, the problem he was not aware of is that it was God's will for the temple to be rebuilt. The king truly never had authority over God's house or God's people because they were always the Lord's. We as Christians are to follow the leaders of this world orders as long as it does not go against what God wants from us but thru all the leaders we trust in the Lord.
22 The king tells them to stop building because it is harmful to him and his kingdom, this was never their first priority but was only the king's priority. Building the temple was a good thing; the king could not understand this.
