SHARE A PRAYER

(18) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:18 KJV

A prayer without the Spirit is like an engine without fuel. For it is praying in the Spirit which constitutes the effectiveness of any prayer.

(26) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
(27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
(28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:26-28 KJV

Prayer in the Spirit effects and prepares us first and foremost, because it searches our heart deeply and profoundly and causes us to intercede sometimes to the point of groaning within without the use of plausible words. This kind of prayer takes considerable time and effort allowing the Spirit of God to pray through us. In this atmosphere of prayer God is able to reveal himself and communicate his love to us. The response is to direct that love with warmth and enthusiasm in petition and intercession to and for others.

(13) Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
(14) Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
(15) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
(16) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:13-16 KJV

When prayer in the Spirit of Prayer is taken lightly and abandoned for spiritless prayer, the love, fire, and passion of prayer ceases to make a difference. Spiritless prayer is powerless prayer which avails nothing or effects or influences nothing. When ritualism and formalism take the place of a radical relationship with God; zeal and fervency perish because approaching God is designed to be an act of the heart not a motion of the body.

(13) Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Isaiah 29:13 KJV

So many times folk have a patented prayer, tailored to sound spiritual but rings shallow in depth. God hears the shallow prayer but his heart is numb to the deadness which radiate from them, they do not move him, because his Spirit is not in them.

Ritual and Formality have a place in our lives, but when abused to the extreme render us useless as worshippers whom worship in Sprit and Truth. God’s desire is for us to approach him spiritually naked, his desire is for us to bare all of ourselves before him without pretension and with total dependence upon him. To spiritually prostrate ourselves before him in full submission. Once we have entered into his presence, we can have the unction of prayer that becomes the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous which brings healing, deliverance, revival, and life changes. But most importantly a real relationship with the Heavenly Father.

Brethren, keep the faith today by doing a self examination of your prayer life. Ask yourself if you were God would you see a heart that is pure? A passion that is fervent? A desire for a personal relationship that is intimate? And a compassion for the pain, plans, and purposes of others? Brethren when we care enough to share a prayer; by praying in the Spirit, we are keeping the faith. Selah

Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
