Acts 7:39-41 King James Version (KJV)
39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

39 The Israelites often times did not listen to the prophets the Lord sent and even at times had them killed. Egypt was the place of wondering they were in a spiritually place on wondering.
40 They did not want God but one they could see, they turned from the Lord to false gods this would not be the last time Israel did this.
41 They decided that this calf they had made was their new god even though what the Lord had just brought them through, we often times fall into sin when we neglect what the Lord has done for us.
