Acts 7:47-50 King James Version (KJV)
47 But Solomon built him an house.
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
Acts 7:47-50 New King James Version (NKJV)
47 But Solomon built Him a house.
48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:
49 ‘Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
What house will you build for Me? says the LORD,
Or what is the place of My rest?
50 Has My hand not made all these things?’

47 Solomon was not the one who actually did all the building but was the one God put in charge of the building of the temple, if things did not go according to God’s plan in the building Solomon would be the one that would need to answer to God.
48 God did not need to temple to be built, this would have been a great benefit to the priests that lived in the temple though, the temple did not as much for God as it did for Israel.
49 This is the prophet proclaiming what God says during a time where worship at the temple was not heart felt. God reigns from heaven and not from earth. Worship does much for us, God don’t need our praise, He has the power to have the rocks cry out His praises but He does want our praise but we as Christians need a time of praise for the Lord.
50 God made everything, God wanted Solomon to know that by building the temple did not mean God was limited to that one place, sometimes we get in the mind frame where we can think that we must wait till we go to church to speak to the Lord or give Him praise, this is us trying to keep God in the building when instead we should do better to keep Him in our heart.
